Our Rich History
Construction of Trinity Church was begun in the spring of 1896, using local granite donated by parishioner, Thomas Woodruff, president of the granite company at that time. The first service in the new building was held in July of 1896. Trinity was consecrated on October 13, 1900 and was dedicated to “…the Worship and Service of Almighty God, the administration of His Holy Sacraments, the Reading and Preaching of His Holy Word, and for the performance of All Holy Offices” by the Bishop of North Carolina, the Rt. Reverend Joseph Blount Cheshire.
We have approximately 200 members with an average attendance of 80 on Sundays.
The Parish Hall was added in 1954. Adjacent to the church is Trinity Park, with our Columbarium and an outdoor space for prayer, reflection, the blessing of the animals and other parish activities.
We are part of the Episcopal Church in the United States and the 66 million-member worldwide Anglican Communion of Christians who recognize and affirm each other’s unique gifts as members of the body of Christ. We are committed to doing God’s work in the world.
Our mission is to worship God and reach out to others with the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We worship together to glorify God through the liturgy of the Episcopal Church as expressed in our Book of Common Prayer, to hear God’s word, to receive the sacraments, to pray together, and to sing his praise.
We reach out beyond our own congregation to help meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of others. We are especially blessed by our Staples Program where church volunteers give food to the hungry each Thursday morning from 8:30-9:30.
We invite you to come worship with us. To learn more about our worship, click here.
