Visiting Trinity
Where is Trinity and where should we park?
Trinity is located at 472 North Main Street in Mount Airy, NC. We are in the downtown area of this wonderful small town, on the corner of Independence and North Main. You easily can recognize our granite building with its red doors and three crosses on the roof.
Trinity offers two areas of parking for services. On North Main, you may park in the spaces to the right of the church as well as on Main Street and in the parking lot across the street. Additional parking is behind the church, off Renfro Street. Turn into the church driveway beside the Mount Airy News and turn right at the end of the driveway.
When are our Sunday services and other regular activities?
Sunday worship services begin at 8:00, 9:15, and 11:00. All three services use Rite II and offer the Eucharist at each service. The 8:00 service is a quiet service while the 11:00 service has a choir and organ music. Both of those services are in the sanctuary. The 9:15 is outside with guitar accompaniment. This service will continue through the month of October.
Christian Formation (Sunday School) is open to all from 10:00-10:50. There is an adult forum in the parish hall, preschool and elementary children participate in Godly Play or Workshop Rotation Model and our middle school students will use Rite 13 in the classrooms on the second floor.
What should I do when I arrive?
When you arrive, enter the church through the red door in front of the church on North Main Street. A greeter will welcome you, offer you a bulletin, and help you find a seat.
We invite you to complete the guest information card. If you provide an email address, we will email you the weekly and special event announcements.
I have not attended an Episcopal Service. What do I need to know?
We use two books during our services, which you can find in the pew rack in front of you. The black book is the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), the Anglican prayer book from which our rites and services come. The red book is The Hymnal 1982 from which our service music and hymns come. Our service bulletin will tell you which to use, but the material from the BCP in printed in the bulletin. The hymn board on the wall behind the lectern lists the hymns and service music that will be sung during each service. Hymn numbers preceded with an “S” are for service music and are in the front part of the hymnal. Don’t hesitate asking anyone around you if you have questions.
What you really need to know is that you don’t have to do everything everyone else is doing. We come from diverse backgrounds and different faith traditions. Sit back and let the Episcopal worship wrap you in its arms.
What opportunities do I have to meet church members?
Following each of the Sunday worship services we share a time of fellowship. These are Nibbles in the Narthex for the 8:30 service and Coffee Hour in the Parish Hall after the 10:30 service. You are truly welcome for these fellowship times. These are wonderful opportunities to meet the Trinity family.
What do I do if I want to join Trinity?
If you are moving from or attending another Episcopal church and wish to join Trinity, simply ask your previous parish for a letter of transfer. We will notify you once the letter is received and ask you to complete a Member form for our records.
