The Altar Guild is a vital ministry at Trinity. Each week, the guild prepares and takes down the altar elements for 2 Sunday services and one service on Wednesday night. Trinity’s Altar Guild readies the church for Baptisms, funerals, weddings and other special services.
Many of our members participate in our church services. Acolytes lead the procession carrying the cross or the Gospel Book and assist the celebrant at the altar. At Trinity, we welcome all ages to serve as an acolyte. Lectors and Chalice Bearers assist the priest in preparing and administering communion. Greeters welcome people as they enter the church, hand out bulletins, answer visitors’ questions and offer welcome bags and children’s activity bags. The bags, prepared by members of the church, contain information about the services and ministries of Trinity as well as items to make the visit more meaningful. During worship, our greeters assist in the presentation of the gifts and present the offering plates.
The Arts & Crafts Club for Adults with Disabilities has grown from the Gallery Group and Blue House Teaching Studio begun in 2005 as a non-profit organization where our handicapped population and our local community could all share in the creativity and joy of the arts. We are not teaching “Christian Education” but we are operating on the belief that God created and loves all of us. This club meets one afternoon each week in the Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church. It is led by volunteer teachers from our community who strive to promote a positive atmosphere, creative thinking and self-expression.
Our church is honored to be part of a compassionate and faith-driven effort to support individuals and families as Asylum Seekers. In partnership with Border Servant Corps in New Mexico, we assist people at a critical point—when they are first released into the United
States and in need of safety, stability, and community. We have had the privilege of sponsoring a woman and her child, helping them transition from uncertainty to independence. Their successful
journey has inspired us to expand our ministry further. Currently, we are renovating a home that will provide temporary housing for people seeking asylum. This space will offer shelter, support, and welcome to future families as they begin rebuilding their lives. We are actively seeking volunteers, donations, and support to help complete this home and prepare for new arrivals. As border policies shift and asylum seekers are once again permitted entry, we look forward to continuing our ministry of hospitality, justice, and love—welcoming more people with open arms and open hearts.
The Autumn Leaves Festival, Mt. Airy’s biggest celebration, is held over two weekends in the fall. Much of Main Street and the surrounding area is blocked off for vendors and thousands of visitors attend. We rent our Main Street parking spaces to vendors and ask for donations for convenient parking in our lot. The ECW accepts donations for baked goods, beverages and other items from our garden space in front of the church. We host an Open Church for all who would like to come in to sit and rest, hear part or our story, and enjoy some music. All donations are used to support our various outreach programs. For quite a few years parking donations during ALF have been our largest annual fundraising activity.
The Caregiver/ Grief Support Group meets twice a month providing an informal venue for shared experiences and a sense of community. Whether you are experiencing the trials of assisting with providing services for a loved one or navigating a specific loss, our group will help you meet these challenges.
Cursillo is intended to help us learn and live what is fundamental to being a Christian and living out a personal vocation. Its goal is to bring the world to Christ by empowering adult Christian leaders. The Cursillo Method equips and encourages Christians to live out their Baptismal covenant in service to Christ. Leadership may be exercised in all aspects of life, an exercise not of power over others but of Christian influence. We can all exert a positive influence on those around us as members of the Jesus Movement. The Cursillo Weekend retreat is not an end to itself but is rather a springboard to a long-range practice of the Baptismal covenant called the Fourth Day. At its heart is Group Reunion, the focus of Cursillo: a small group of friends who meet weekly to hold each other accountable for their spiritual journey. They report on their piety, study, and apostolic action. Their bond provides a strong support for a Christian life. Ultreya, which is usually held monthly, is a “reunion of the reunions.” It provides support and builds community by allowing the sharing of communal experiences.
The Flower Ministry is responsible for contacting donors and carrying out their wishes regarding the flowers that adorn our altar each Sunday for our services. A flower chart sign-up is located near the back of the church for members and guests to reserve flower memorials and dedications. After services, these beautiful donations are taken by committee members to shut-ins or nursing homes for others to enjoy.
Knit One, Pray Too is the prayer shawl ministry of Trinity Episcopal Church plus much more. Started in 2012, this valuable ministry has presented hundreds of hand-knit and crocheted prayer shawls and lap robes to those in need of comfort, peace, and prayer. A prayer shawl serves as tangible hug, a reminder that we are never alone. Shawls have been given to those who are ill, who have suffered loss, who are experiencing a challenging life event, who are lonely, or who just need reminders of God’s presence and love. Knit One, Pray Too meets on the second Thursday of each month at 1:00 in the church parlor. Please join us. If you do not knit or crochet, we will teach you.
Pastoral Care recognizes that all people going through life find that sometimes we need help from others. We may call on family, friends, medical, or resource agencies, or our church. The purpose of this committee is to develop and share our gifts for ministry and to support each other as we show this care to our parishioners and our wider community. In the thirteenth chapter of John’s Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples they will be known by the love they show for one another. This is the deeper purpose of all our ministries! But it cannot be a one-person job. If you need help or wish to be involved in this mission, Pastoral Care welcomes you!
The Stewardship Committee is committed to cultivating a spirit of generosity grounded in gratitude and love. We plan meaningful events throughout the year that raise vital funds for our outreach programs and other ministries. Each gathering is more than a fundraiser—it is an opportunity to give from the heart, share our blessings, and strengthen our church community. Through stewardship, we celebrate God’s abundance and invite others to join us in making a difference. Your support helps extend Trinity’s mission of compassion, service, and faith to those in need, both near and far. All are welcome at Trinity.
Sunday School at Trinity begins with our children. The elementary class meets during 9:30 service each Sunday during the school year. We learn about Old and New Testament Bible stories and how our own history relates to those days. Several church members take turns teaching, using resources such as crafts and drama to make the stories come alive. Middle and high school young people have discussion-based classes that use media resources to help them learn more Bible teachings.Adult Sunday School is taught by our Rector and involves subjects about the Episcopal Church and the ways we worship and work in our community.
Theology Group meets monthly over the winter season to investigate core questions about our Christian faith and increase our understanding of its essential doctrines. Our discussions are free-ranging and open to variance, though each topic is studied through the lens of the Anglican Communion. Everyone is invited to attend.
Trinity Cooks is a vital ministry that brings our congregation together through food and fellowship. Throughout the year, three dedicated teams prepare meals for parishioners in need, coordinate the setup and cleanup for our monthly potlucks, and provide refreshments for receptions and special gatherings.
Trinity’s Youth Group exists to provide a steady, safe, and supportive space for at-risk youth to receive the healthy attention and consistent adult interaction they need. Our mission is to let every
student know they are not alone. All youth in grades 6-12 are welcome to join us. We meet on Tuesdays after school during the school year, with additional outings and events throughout the summer and school year. Our weekly Tuesday gatherings involve basketball, group time, small group time, and dinner. The group currently supports around 20 students and is led by a dedicated team of adult volunteers who are committed to showing up, building trust, and making a lasting impact.Through meaningful relationships and positive examples, Trinity’s Youth Group is a place where young people can feel seen, valued, and supported as they navigate life’s challenges.
